Part of a limited series created exclusively for ARJÉ, the Sphere Vessel in Black Matte, a graphic sphere vase, is a one-of-a-kind piece that brings an element of texture and shape to any space. Made-to-order by hand in Helena, Montana using a few tools, each of Giselle Hicks's graphic vessels is shaped, dried, fired; cooled, sanded, washed, and glazed: you can see the resulting textures in the finished clay. Hand-coiled and pinched to create its rounded shape.
"I have always been interested in the domestic space and how our experiences within the home—a space of intimate exchange—affect and define how we live outside of our homes," says Hicks. This double curve vase, done in a matte Anthracite Black, measures eighteen-and-a-half inches by seven inches—sized for a range of functional uses and designed to sit alone, or alongside the rest of the pieces in the series. "I want my work to be part of the beauty of people's everyday lives."
