The Zig Zag 2 Vessel is a black modern vase in an elegant zig-zag silhouette. Part of a limited series created exclusively for ARJÉ, this coiled and pinched stoneware vessel is a one-of-a-kind piece that brings an element of texture and shape to any space. Made-to-order by hand in Helena, Montana using a few tools, each of Giselle Hicks's graphic vessels are shaped, dried, fired; cooled, sanded, washed, and glazed: you can see the resulting textures in the finished clay.
"I have always been interested in the domestic space and how our experiences within the home—a space of intimate exchange—affect and define how we live outside of our homes," says Hicks. This functional zig zag silhouette, done in a matte Anthracite Black, measures eleven-and-a-half inches by six inches—perfectly sized to hold a sculptural bouquet of flowers or branches, or as an accent piece alongside the rest of the series. "I want my work to be part of the beauty of people's everyday lives."
