Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil to South Korean parents, Re Jin Lee makes ceramic pieces by hand in upstate New York, using a unique assembly of individually rolled out clay slabs and coils inspired by the contemplative process of ceramics, and a belief in simplicity.

"It’s fitting that pottery dates back to the beginning of our existence," she says. "Though I’m creating these large complicated sculptural pieces, I aspire to re-create the most basic, simplest, necessarily functional piece from the first time pottery was created." This sculptural candelabra is made up of coils carefully burnished at each dry stage using a high polished stone and slow fired to mature state for a one of a kind piece that is functional and unexpected—the result of two forms coming together to create the final piece.
