Introducing Reservoir Plinth-Seat 5, part of a series of work by Yoona Young Hur. Working out of New York City and influenced by her Korean heritage and architectural training, Hur works across multiple mediums from clay to paper and honors her rich cultural and spiritual heritage through inspiration and ideation. 

“There’s this incredible aspect of forgiving and embracing when I work with clay and paper. They are free and fluid, yet there’s always a finitude and decisive moment to ‘let go’ and not become attached. I hope to express both expansiveness and vulnerability through emptiness and softness, so that viewers can feel and reflect their own ever-changing multitudes. The void in my work can be perceived as a meditative space where one is invited to pause, contemplate, heal and awaken to the higher versions of ourselves.” says Hur.

Reservoir Plinth-Seat is inspired by the lakes of Geneva. As a modular series, it can be arranged in multiple ways that respond to the space and number of people. Here, similar yet distinct forms create valley like empty voids for invisible energy to flow through like rivers reaching to the vast ocean.
